This term’s Tea Time Concert offered an array of ages and abilities a chance to perform in a relaxed environment in front their peers and family. It gave first time performers the experience of performing outside of lessons and allowed seasoned musicians to flex their musical muscles. The concert is crucial to the development of students’ ability to convey their individual talent, with a diverse programme ranging from a Rasta drum solo by Tobias H to an accomplished Sonata performed on piano by Alicia C. The sheer talent of the department shone through with performers such as Arnav R, Year 7, performing an Etude on piano to the standard of someone twice his age. With positive accompaniment by Mr Mann, each musician could present a commendable performance deserving of the applause received.
The considerable amount of time given by our peripatetic teachers, ensuring their students can achieve to the best of their ability, must be recognised. Without the ongoing support of teachers such as Mr Harrison and Mr Hodder, who go above and beyond to encourage their students to thrive while performing, the evening would not have been so successful.
