On Friday the 24th of November our excited U9 sports team went to Stonyhurst College for an overnight Hockey and Netball trip. Mr Hodgkinson and Mrs Cole were a little bit annoyed on the bus journey when one of our team kept asking “Are we there yet?”. On the way we had a enjoyable game of Chinese whispers.
When we got there, we were all surprised by the size of Stonyhurst; it was like a castle. We went straight to the sports hall for our first netball match. We played well and won against a good side. Lucy couldn’t help herself scoring goals!
After the game we went to the house we were sleeping in and travelled to the Bayley Arms for a delicious evening meal. After this we collected our swimming gear and went to the pool. We had great fun holding hands and jumping in. Then we headed to bed, after Mr Hodgkinson got the key to work. We all went to sleep really quickly because we were so tired.
We woke ready for our hockey match on Saturday morning and headed for breakfast with the boarders. Then we received the news the hockey was cancelled because of a frozen pitch. We were a little disappointed but we decided the best thing to do was play another netball game. St Mary’s Hall were better in this match and were tougher but we still won. Afterwards we were treated to a delicious lunch, thanked St Mary’s Hall and went home.
The girls and I would like to thank Stonyhurst College for inviting us and Mr Hodgkinson & Mrs Cole for taking us. I would also like to thank the girls for playing well.
