Year 9 Netball win again

AKS Year 9 netball A team continued their winning form with another impressive win this week against Carr Hill. From the off the quick passing and movement of the team saw them work the ball easily down the court and into their attacking circle and there shooters Ellie S and Ruby W duly converted. Great defending from Amelia C and Mia W frequently won back possession and then good movement from Annaleise H, Hannah T and Jenny D saw us keep possession well and build attack after attack which Carr Hill had no response to and at half time the game was won with the score 14 - 0. After the break we raised our level of play once again and Carr Hill struggled to get much possession and when they did great work rate and marking saw us soon win the ball back. Ellie S and Ruby W increased their shot conversion rate , scoring from all areas of the circle and at the final whistle the score had moved along to an impressive  27 - 1. Ruby W was ‘Player of the Match’ for her superb movement in the circle and excellent goal conversion rate.

The B team game was one of two halves. We started the first half well and went into an early lead thanks to accurate shooting from Charlotte A. Carr Hill did create problems for our defenders but Genevieve H and Tara W worked hard to make shooting difficult. A period of frantic play saw both sides win and give away possession but we slowly started to dodge more effectively and pass to each other with Amy S, Grace S and Daya M working the ball down the court well. Ellie W slotted in to a new position at GA well and at half time we had a narrow advantage 4 - 1.

The second half saw Carr Hill improve both their movement and passing and they slowly clawed back our lead and were soon on level terms. We then started to rush our passes and too frequently gave the ball away which allowed Carr Hill to go ahead despite the efforts of the hard working Tara W in defence. Grace S worked hard to get free in the centre of the court and linked our defending and attacking thirds well but all too often our forced pass into the circle was intercepted. Carr Hill continued to raise their game and at the final whistle the score was 5 – 9. Player of the Match was Charlotte A for her excellent shooting.
