Junior Hockey Triumphs
On a wet, windy, Monday morning our U11 girls’ hockey team took to the astroturf to play a mixed team of girls and boys from Scarisbrick Hall, near Southport. The game started slowly but the pace soon picked up with some great attacking play. Charlotte netted three consecutive strikes from just inside the circle. These were followed by two goals from Jessie, giving AKS a five goal lead at half time.

Our defence as usual were excellent in keeping the opposition out and feeding the forwards giving them the opportunity to score three more goals, one from Carly and two more from Jessie. The final score was 8 -0 to AKS.   The Scarisbrick goalkeeper worked extremely hard and although eight goals were scored, he saved many other attempts which he was very happy about.

Congratulations to Hollie who played her first game for the A team. As always, we would like to thank Mr Hodgkinson for all his hard work and thank you to our supporters for coming out in all kinds of weather to cheer us on.

It was a home match for our U10 girls and despite the weather conditions being tough, there was no way Mr Hodgkinson was going to stop the game. He had us all warned up and when Scarisbrick Hall arrived we were certainly ready for the game. The AKS defence were on top form, and Scarisbrick only managed one shot on our goal, which was brilliantly saved by Carrera.

We were determined and with focus and amazing passing and dribbling, our forwards were able to score seven goals. Zara scored four, Lisa two and Ruby the final one. The more goals we scored the more determined both teams became. Their goalkeeper was good but no competition for our on fire forwards.

At the end Lisa was named man of the match and we were left a proud team! Scarisbrick played their hearts out and we are thankful for them for coming to play us. We would also like to thank the teachers for assisting us in the match, all the supporters who survived the weather conditions and our team for their great efforts. The final score was 7-0 to AKS.
