U12A Netball Won 10-1 vs Lytham High POM: Beth R and Amelie S
The Year 7 netball team are making huge strides every match and once again this was a superb performance. LSA played some great netball but the AKS team were quicker to react and move. The girls have been working hard in training on timing their dodge to ensure they are free to then receive the ball and pleasingly this was evident in the game. At times, however, the dodge was too early and LSA were quick to intercept and win back possession. AKS still have a tendency to try to pass the ball too quickly and the result is footwork or the ball is being dropped. The centre court players Cary B, Madi B, Amelie L and Patsy C worked incredibly hard to time their dodges and the free flowing, quick passing moves were excellent. Olivia M and Beth R were outstanding in defence and despite LSA getting the ball in to the attacking third, the two AKS defenders rarely let the ball get to the opposition shooters. Our attack of Lucy B and Amelie S are starting to link up quickly and demonstrate the ability to dodge to get closer to the post and make a successful shot which saw them score ten goals to make the final score 10 – 1.
Players of the match were Beth R for her tight man to man marking and fantastic timing to make countless interceptions to win back possession for AKS. Amelie S for her willingness to listen and then put into practice the dodging and movement. Her quick passing and movement is really improving.
U12B Netball Lost 1-4 vs Lytham High POM Laura K
This was a furiously fast paced and noisy game of netball between two teams of very excited and enthusiastic players. The noise levels throughout the game were at times almost lifting the roof off the sports hall and the sheer passion of the girls in wanting the ball was a joy to watch! LSA had a very skillful team who played excellent netball and AKS did well to restrict the opposition to 4 goals. The marking by AKS was much improved and this was evident across the whole team. Scarlett D and Anna P made numerous interceptions to thwart the LSA attack and win back possession. A special mention to Charley B who stepped in at the last minute to play her second ever netball match. Once again it really is great to see how much Charley B is improving in the basic netball skills and she is a real team player. Zara F and Laura K worked their socks off in the centre court winning back possession by some fantastic interceptions and passing the ball at speed. Charlotte M and Katie T combined well in attack with some slick and quick passing and got themselves into good shooting positions. The team just need to slow down the pace of their play to allow for more accurate passing and sound footwork. Player of the match: Laura K for her work rate and energy round the court. She worked tirelessly to be in a space to receive the ball or to track back and mark her player.
