After the disappointment of losing their unbeaten record on Tuesday the Year 10 netball team responded in the best possible way with a good win against St.Bedes in which they returned to playing good flowing netball.
We started the game superbly scoring from our first centre with a well worked move and this set the tone for the first five minutes which we totally dominated. Great movement and passing saw us work the ball into the circle at ease and great shooting from Ellie B and Sophie B saw us go into a five goal lead. St.Bedes then started to settle and get some rhythm to their play but great work in our defending circle from Emily P and Amy I made the St.Bedes shooters have to work hard to create scoring opportunities and they often failed to convert. We continued work hard to win the ball back and Jenny D, Rebecca H and Sally D linked our defending and attacking thirds well to work the ball down the court into the circle and at the break we were 11 – 6 ahead.
The start of the second half saw a period of scrappy play with both sides winning and losing possession frequently but we soon got back to our playing patterns and started to dominate play again and create scoring opportunities that our shooters again converted well to keep the scoreboard moving along. When we had the ball our movement and timing of dodges saw us produce some superb patterns of play and when we didn’t have the ball everyone worked hard and marked well to win the ball back. At the final whistle the score had moved on to 21 – 10 after an excellent performance from all the team. Players of the match were Jenny D for her excellent movement and availability and Amy I for her superb defending.
