Fine Victories for Junior Hockey

On Saturday the AKS U9 hockey team played Preston Hockey Club away. It was an exciting match right from the start. Both teams worked hard and attacked well.  AKS scored an early goal by Camilla, which gave our side confidence, which helped Camilla score a second goal.

The AKS players supported one another and passed well.  Before long Zoe had scored a third goal.  Preston did attack our goal, and managed to score but this was quickly followed by a fourth goal scored by Ruby. This meant at half time the score was 4-1 to us.

In the second half both teams played good hockey. Our team kept up the pressure. The midfield and forward players continued to play well and Preston pressured our defence and managed to score two more goals. From a defensive pass from Esther, Ruby managed to take the ball and score her second and the team’s fifth goal, great work.
We would like to thank Preston Hockey Club for welcoming us to play, our enthusiastic supporters, Mr Hodgkinson and Mrs Dixon.

The final score was 5-3 to AKS; well done girls!

On the 30th September we, the U10 AKS girls, played a hockey match against Preston Hockey Club. This was an away match. It was our first match of the season and we really enjoyed it. Lisa played centre midfield, I played right forward and Zara played left forward. Our team also included Layla (sweeper), Connie (Left midfield) and Carrera (goalie). Ruby and Esther played right midfield (one half each).

We started brightly and scored a goal in the first couple of minutes.   Preston soon fought back to level the score 1-1.  However, we continued to play impressively and scored three more goals in the first half.   The score was 4-1 at half time.   We scored two more goals in the second half.  Preston tried hard but we never let them score any more.  Mr Hodgkinson gave us very good tips and tactics throughout the match.

We won the match 6-1! Our scorers were Lisa, Connie, Zara (2) and myself (2).  Our parents and friends were all cheering on and encouraging us throughout the match.  This was a great way to start the season and we were very delighted with our performance.   We are all looking forward to our next hockey match against another club or school.   We would all like to say a big thank you to Mr Hodgkinson for arranging this hockey match for us.
