AKS U15s were slow to start but build in confidence as the game progressed, showing a gritty determination and a positive future. Ripley started well scoring 2 tries and dominating the early exchanges. AKS grew in confidence however as the game developed, showing a good defensive line and strong tackling from, Nathan, Ben O, Ali and Charlie. AKS created a couple of opportunities later in the first half but were unable to turn these to points. The half time score 12.0 to Ripley.
In the second half strong running from Marshall, Oliver B and Jack got AKS on the front foot and allowed them to pressure the Ripley line. Opportunities were created with Charlie just missing out with a break down the wing, Ben O getting held up short, Sky with a kick and chase just missing dabbing the ball down before the dead ball line and James had a try disallowed in the corner.
Despite the final score, 17.0, AKS can be very proud of their efforts and have proved that they can match the bigger more physical teams. This team has huge potential and I have no doubt we will see this come to light as the season move forward.
U12s beat Ripley by three tries to two in a hard fought match. Reece opened the scoring and the lead was doubled by an outstanding individual try from Jeremy.
Ripley halved the deficit on the stroke of half time, but an opportune try from Tom gave AKS a two try cushion.
Sterling defence and excellent tackling halted the Ripley comeback and the boys showed great character to run out narrow victors.
