Last Wednesday, our intrepid band of Year 10 public speakers set out in the driving rain to do battle in the annual Rotary Club of St Annes’ Public Speaking Competition. AKS Lytham was represented by Samuel, a confident and charming chairman, who introduced us to our main speaker, Bruno. The main speaker’s topic was whether sport really could improve your life whatever your age and physical starting-point (unsurprisingly, distance-runner Bruno reckoned that it did). Bruno spoke with much eloquence and emphasis. He was thanked by our Proposer of the Vote of Thanks, Eve, in a poised performance.
All members of the team were warmly thanked by the Rotatrians and presented with a certificate. We were delighted to see that the judges selected Bruno as best speaker of the evening and presented him with an extra certificate, and book-token prize.
