Pirate Cove Visit
This term Y1’s DT work has centred around ‘playgrounds’. We have spent a lot of time exploring both school playgrounds, discovering what materials they are made from, and which parts give the structures their strength. We noticed that some parts move and some stayed still. We realised that the parts that stayed still were very important for strength and safety, but the moving parts were what made it exciting to use.
This is what the children thought about their visit:
Charlie - "We wanted to see what different playgrounds are like
because we wanted to learn about them."
Haris - "We want to make our own playground models so that's why we
Heath - "We were very polite and let other people go through on the equipment before we did."
Sophia - "We walked there because our school is near Fairhaven Lake.
We are very lucky to be so near!"
Ella - "There was a pirate ship, an obstacle course and a tunnel to play on."
Eli - "We had a play in Pirate Cove and we went team by team so the
playground didn’t get too busy and full."
William - "It is quite hard to draw the equipment but you just need to keep on going and try your best."
Elliot - "We liked playing there because it was exciting."
