At the end of a very busy Spring half term, Year 3 and Year 4 performed their annual production for three excited audiences. This year’s musical “Ye –Ha!” is set in Splodge City where a group of no good hoodlums have been terrorising the place. Wilbur, the new Sherriff, is just a cook at the Fordoor Saloon, but with the help of a mysterious masked hero (who is only a girl!) manages to save the town and discover oil under the saloon! At 46 pages long the children really had their work cut out for them learning the words, and the comic timing, but with much perseverance their acting performances were truly remarkable. The music, accompanied by Mrs Giudici, was superbly Wild West in theme and really lively; there were wonderful solo singing performances by Owen, Scarlett, Kirtika and Mary. Dance moves were choreographed skilfully by Mrs Sumner, with some creative suggestions from our Year 4 dancers.
Mr Walton really enjoyed the show and commented that some of the jokes would stay with him for a long time! One of our performances was watched by some ladies and gentlemen from The Moorings and Just Good Friends community group, who had been invited in to school as part of the “Bring Me Sunshine” initiative. Our junior children really responded well and enjoyed chatting with the visitors about the show, whilst many of them commented on what a lovely afternoon they had.
A big thank you to all our parents who helped with scenery, costumes, props and of course the hours spent learning those lines. Remember “Oils well that ends well!”
