AKS News Club continues to go from strength to strength. We meet on a Tuesday lunchtime in Room 29. We have a number of very keen Year 7 students who enjoy discussing and looking at current affairs from a variety of different sources. For Open Evening, we set up a mock Editing Suite at what would be a National Newspaper. Collecting news stories and deciding which ones to choose to go in to our Final Edition, was very challenging.
We found that writing a news article is different from writing other articles or informative pieces because news articles present information in a specific way. It's important to be able to convey all the relevant information in a limited word count and give the facts to your target audience concisely. Knowing how to write a news article can help a career in journalism, develop our student’s writing skills; help us convey information clearly and sometimes with a certain bias to it!
We are aiming to develop the AKS News Club further and we have a very exciting idea which we want to pursue – watch this space!
