Recently, Year 3B have been busy in their humanities and art lessons learning about Stonehenge. Firstly, the children decided why Stonehenge was built. There were lots of ideas and reasons given including: burial, sacrifice, calendar and even just for showing off Stone Age talents. Next, we found out how Stonehenge was built. We were amazed to find out that they used logs to roll and then ropes to move the 7 metre, 50 tonne stone slabs.
Finally, we enjoyed making our own Stonehenge monuments from clay and sticks and then using paint and paper. Mrs Briggs and Year 3B have thoroughly enjoyed learning all about Stonehenge. Some of the pupils even went to visit the monument in the half term holiday.
