We have arranged for Storytellers Inc., our local independent book shop in St. Anne’s, to bring two guest authors into school on Friday 24th February to speak to Year 8 and Year 9 students. The event is free of charge.
Storytellers believe this to be a great pairing of stories with shared themes of ‘being true to yourself’ and ‘self-empowerment.’
Author Maggie Harcourt will talk about her latest book Unconventional...
"This book is about a fan who meets her idol. It’s a light, teen romance.
Lexi Angelo has grown up helping her dad with his events business. She likes to stay behind the scenes, planning and organizing...until author Aidan Green - messy haired and annoyingly arrogant - arrives unannounced at the first event of the year. Then Lexi's life is thrown into disarray.
In a flurry of late-night conversations, mixed messages and butterflies, Lexi discovers that some things can't be planned. Things like falling in love."
Author Katherine Webber introduces Wing Jones...
"This is an empowering story of a girl from a multicultural background who develops a love of running.
A debut novel about a mixed-race family hit by tragedy in 90s Atlanta from a talented young writer. For fans of David Levithan, Jandy Nelson and Rainbow Rowell: a sweeping story about love and family from an exceptional new voice in YA. With a grandmother from China and another from Ghana, fifteen-year-old Wing Jones is often caught between worlds.
But when tragedy strikes, Wing discovers a talent for running she never knew she had. Wing's speed could bring her family everything it needs. It could also stop Wing getting the one thing she wants."
Copies of the books will also be on sale on the day to be signed by the authors to make it an extra special souvenir of the visit. The books will be on offer at a special event price.
