On Wednesday 8th February, 60 Year 12 students headed to Manchester City's Etihad Stadium for the annual University Search Fair. This was an opportunity for students to meet a host of universities, higher education and apprenticeship providers from all over the UK, gaining vital advice for their UCAS applications and HE decision making. Students also had the chance to listen to interesting seminars, from student finance to Oxbridge applications!
As Scarlett Reams stated 'speaking to all of the representatives of the universities I am interested in was extremely eye-opening. For example, I spoke to a representative from the University of Dundee, which I did not know much about. From this, I learned that they were third in the country for the course I would like to study - medicine. The university search fair was thoroughly enjoyable and informative, helping me clarify the next steps I need to take in order to reach my ultimate job goal in life.'
It was clear from the rest of Year 12 that this view was the majority one, with students not only enjoying, but learning from this trip out. For many, it affirmed what they would like to study, while for others, it gave them new and intriguing ideas to think about. Consequently, every student left learning or discovering something new.
