AKS Art in Lytham Gallery
All of the work shortlisted for the Royal British Artists Exhibitions in London is now displayed in ‘The Drawn From Youth 7 Art Exhibition’ at The Fylde Gallery, in Booths, Lytham.
The work embraces a variety of media such as ceramics, hand felted embroidery, painting and drawing. The preview night was extremely well attended and there were many guests including Hilary Alcock, who was the guest speaker. Hilary is the Founder Chair of Fylde DFAS and the original initiator of the Drawn From Youth Exhibitions. There were also Mayors from Wyre, Blackpool and the Fylde, who were extremely impressed by the high standard and variety of the students' work.
AKS students attended with their families and two of the girls (Ella M and Eleanor W) received the overall top prize for having their work selected to go on show in London at the Royal British Artist's Annual Exhibition at both the Royal Overseas League and the Mall Galleries. AKS, having been the first first ever selected from the North West, have extended this unprecedented success by having two students pieces selected last year and a further two this year. Hilary expounded the many career opportunities available with an art and design background.
The exhibition is now open to the public until Thursday 20th April.
