The Creative Team is pleased to announce that the National Operatic and Dramatic Association has recognised the AKS Production of 'Bugsy Malone', winning 3 awards at the recent NODA District 2 Awards.
J Jay Ditchfield won ‘Best Supporting Actor’ for his performance of Fizzy and George Powlesland won ‘Best Male Actor’ for his performance of the title role. The ‘Best Male Actor’ award has been passed down since Joseph Shaw won for Joseph in 2011. Year after year we have celebrated this award with Tom Hammond for Che in Evita, Graeme Smith for The Baker in ‘Into the Woods’ and Harry McLafferty for his performance of Sweeney Todd.
Congratulations to our teacher, Kathy Preston for winning the ‘Best Choreographer’ award for her ‘original and evocative’ choreography of the period. “The ‘Fat Slam, Grand Slam’ tap routine was a highlight of the show for me” said Eddie Regan, NODA District 2 Representative.
I am delighted to announce that all 3 award winners will now go to the Regional Awards in Manchester on Saturday 29th April 2017. To stay informed on the progress of the evening follow @aksschool for up to date announcements, information and pictures of the event.
